“Day 1”: We left Chicago around 6:30pm Thursday night and drove straight through the night. We passed through Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and finally arrived in Orlando on Friday around 2pm. Highlights along the way included multiple wildlife sightings on the roadway, a Waffle House stop in Valdosta, Georgia, and watching a scary road rage car chase through Atlanta’s morning rush hour.
We checked in to our hotel, the J.W. Marriott at Grande Lakes Resort Orlando….AMAZING!
After dropping our bags off in our fabulous room and checking out the view,
That night we went to Downtown Disney to walk around and ended up having dinner at Raglan Road, an Irish restaurant with great Irish music and dancing.
Then we met up with our friends, Benita and Jeff, for a welcoming party at Dave and Busters. Since they were getting married the next day, they wanted to make sure that they had a chance to hang out and chat before the Big Day! Somehow I didn’t get a picture 😦
Day 2: Wedding day! I woke up and lounged for a bit in the hotel room, then headed to the fitness center to get in a quick workout. The facility was great! Lots of ellipticals, treadmills, bikes, and all the weight equipment you could ever want!
Then it was wedding time! They had a beautiful ceremony, and I’m so happy that we were able to be there! We had a couple of hours in between the ceremony and reception, so we grabbed a late lunch and drinks at Brick House Tavern & Tap. We were able to sit outside at the bar, so we were able to enjoy the warm weather and watch football!
The reception was so much fun! The groom went to University of Florida, and the bride is a Georgetown alum, so they had these adorable cake toppers:
We were seated with some other friends from grad school at Michigan, and we had a great time catching up. Here’s us with the beautiful bride!
And a picture of me and the hubby 🙂
Then we danced (and drank) the night away 🙂
